Then please, by all means post it here. By doing this, I am able to not only help you but maybe many others who don’t want to ask and/or are simply lurking, etc. You get the idea. This way I can reply to you and everyone else reading this post.

Important Note: There is no such thing as stupid question. Actually, the only stupid question is the one that goes un-answered because it was un-asked. ;)

*UPDATE*
Please Read Before Posting a Question

As much as I truly would love to help every single one of you with every single affiliate question you may have, I need to request that we keep these questions to be in relation to Tomey Affiliate Products.

These can still be questions about “the best way to promote a product”, “how to get traffic to your site”, “how to make more money as an affiliate” or even things like “how to create a blog” and “how to create an optin page”, etc. General questions such as those are always more than welcome (hoping of course that you’re using these techniques to promote products from TrainYourAffiliates.com ;) ).

Basically, I’m requesting that you use this blog to ask questions you need answered in order to promote products created by Liz Tomey.

I think that’s a pretty reasonable request - to ask you to request more information about how to promote Liz Tomey products from a contractor hired by Liz Tomey on a site owned by Liz Tomey, don’t you?

I’m sure we can all agree that it’s not too fair to ask Liz to pay me to teach you all how to sell other people’s products ;)

Thanks for understanding!

So that said, have at it! Let me know what’s on your mind!

To your success!

  1. Hello Anita DeFrank,

What is the best way to start an affiliate program, not using clickbank, but using a software or building it yourself?

Is there an inexpensive way to do this?

    Thanks,

    Scott

  2. If I have more than one site that I want to promote, what is the easiest way to promote them without doubling, or tripling the workload? I find that sending traffic to one site my note be so hard, but when you have several it gets kind of tricky.

    thanks,

    Adriana

  3. Hi Anita,

I recently joined and look forward to learning from you. Here are a couple of questions -

I noticed that some affiliate marketers seem to have web domains and sites for each product they sell. And the sales copy looks pretty much the same, from site to site, in appearance. It also seems to follow the same formula. Is it time for another approach - one that uses video and rich media to replace all the text?

I like what the guys are Affiliate Power Videos are doing - have you tested any of those “squeeze pages?”

My other question has to do with which products have the best affiliate programs? I can see that many people rely on affiliates to create channels of sales and distribute that might be extensions of their own sales efforts. How can we tell which ones will be good sellers, which product owners will treat their affiliates properly, and which products are in demand? In other words - we can make money by reselling the right stuff to the right niche - so what is working for others?

And how can we design the web pages so that the pitches seem to get customers to move toward the buying decisions quickly?

    thanks much -
    CHOPS

  4. The website btw is under construction -hopefully ready in a week. Thanks a million that at last there’s someone who not only answers qns, but actually invites you to ask. You’re a godsend!
    Questions:
1.Tips on how to get people/companies to be
affiliates. Can they be anyone or must they be akin to your site? Is special paperwork suggested?
    2. Once you have them, how are they set-up to link to your website?

  5. “See you on the Blog” you say. How do I see you there? Presumably on your blog?
Is it highly desirable for me to have a Blog? If so how do I get one?

    Thanks J.G.

  6. @ Jess
When I said “see you on the blog” I simply meant for those of you that chose to stop here on this blog and leave comments ;)

Absolutely, positively yes I highly recommend having a blog. They’re almost as important as having a newsletters.

Some of the common places to get a blog are WordPress & Blogger. I actually recommend and prefer WordPress. There’s so much more you can do with a with a WP blog over Blogger.

WP also has a hosted version (which is completely free) and a non-hosted version (which would only cost you your hosting fees).

Again, I actually recommend the one that you host on your own.

    WordPress (hosted)
    http://www.wordpress.com

    WordPress (host yourself)
    http://www.wordpress.org

    Blogger
    http://www.blogger.com

  7. @ Everyone

I have quite a few other questions/comments in moderation that I need to and will get to as soon as possible.

However, I would like to make a quick request here - if at all possible, could we please keep the affiliate marketing questions more closer to questions related to Tomey affiliate program products. This can still of course be to ask how to promote something, questions about how to get traffic to your site, etc. etc.

Basically, things you need to know in order to promote Liz Tomey’s products the best way possible ;)

I know I didn’t really specify that and that’s my mistake but I wanted to make note now.

    - Anita :P

  8. @ Scott LaPlante
We don’t actually teach that side of affiliate marketing here. That would be considered affiliate program marketing. If you have any questions about making money as an affiliate vs. being the owner of a program, please by all means ask away and I’d be more than happy to help.

  9. @ Adriana
You have a very common issue with affiliate marketing. And depending on how deep you get into it, you may find that you’ll have a lot more than one, two or three websites. Although, this depends on what you personally choose to do.

Do you realize that many affiliate marketers have hundreds of websites?

Those people have others working for them, have worked super hard on optimizing them and have gotten themselves way up top on the search engines and/or rely heavily on things like PPC advertising. There’s many other things that many do to keep them running too but those are just a couple off the top of my head.

Some aren’t even that concerned over one or two individual sites and kind of let them all run in self-mode. This is okay if you have that many sites but in my own personal opinion I myself prefer to not do this because I’m a big stickler for newsletters and such. However, if it’s working - why bother working so hard, right? One huge plus in the world of affiliate marketing ;)

    Here’s what you do …

You create a niche website that allows you to offer numerous products.

Let’s use a website about PLR for example:

If you create a website all about PLR, then you can promote at least 2 of Liz’s products - killing two birds with one stone.

PLR How To Videos & Private Label Site Reviews would go very well together on a website all about Private Label Rights.

And the cool thing here is just using the PLSR report alone, you have a free product to give your readers.

So, you’re not only sharing PLR content with your readers, you’re also offering them a cool free resource. If they’re interested in PLR, they’re sure to be looking for PLR websites - then the report is certainly going to come in handy to them.

Now you can offer them a free ebook that reviews some of the more popular PLR sites out there PLUS (and this is where you make the money) you’re going to be giving them the opportunity to take advantage of an awesome deal on some of these PLR websites (with the OTO that is offered) - saving them money.

You just offered your readers a whole lot in one tiny little space.

And then let’s say you take a step further. Those interested in creating sites using PLR - they may also be interested in looking for joint ventures, right? So, you let them know about Joint Venture Seeker - a product that you just happen to earn 100% commission on!

    See how this works?

You need to add to your site whatever you can find that fits into your topic/niche that will in some way be relevant to your readers/visitors.

And one of the cool things about working with Tomey products, we offer you a ton of tools for on your site - not just advertisements but also articles, blog posts and reviews that give you plenty of content to start your site with - adding value to your website.

You can also get with Liz and have a free tele-class about PLR with your visitors giving them a boatload of information AND have the resell rights of the tele-class afterwards - again - another way for you to make money.

Luckily, with Liz’s products, you have a lot to work with.

I could go on and on with many different scenerios but that should get you started. Slowly but surely Liz is getting more products up and ready for you all to make money with. Eventually it’s a given …. there will be more products that you can add to whatever niche topic you choose to go with.

Important Note: Make sure you stay on the topic or theme of your site. Do not create a website about horses and promote an ebook about dogs.

If you want to promote something that simply in no way resembles your topic/theme/niche then you have two choices. You either build another website or you simply don’t promote the product.

Phew! I should have made that into an article/blog post all on it’s own. I just might yet! Hope this helps you some!

  10. @ Gary CHOPS

In my own personal opinion - I do not like the idea of replacing all text to all video. But, like I said, that’s my own personal views. To me, you need actual text content.

    Why?
Simply because not all of my visitors like videos and search engines need text. I personally like a nice balance of all.

I also am not a big fan of anything that makes everything look the same from site to site to site. ;)

A different website for every single product you promote? Sure, if you feel as though you can afford to do that and can keep up with them, like I said in my earlier reply, it is not uncommon for affiliates to have many websites.

I honestly couldn’t tell you anything about Affiliate Power Videos as I’ve never dealt with them.

My other question has to do with which products have the best affiliate programs? … How can we tell which ones will be good sellers, which product owners will treat their affiliates properly, and which products are in demand? In other words - we can make money by reselling the right stuff to the right niche - so what is working for others?

Well, working with Liz - the answer to that question is easy. With anything you find at TrainYourAffiliates.com, you don’t have to worry about answers to those questions.

Liz only creates in-demand products, and tests them
to make sure they convert good.

She doesn’t create products solely for the purpose of having products to get affiliates to sell. She creates them to sell for herself first … which is why she would only create in-demand products … and offers them to her affiliates to sell as well second. Essentially earning both herself and her affiliates money.

And how can we design the web pages so that the pitches seem to get customers to move toward the buying decisions quickly?

I do not consider myself a decent enough copy writer to be handing out advice to others. However, I can give you two resources:

The first, sorry I don’t have the link right this very moment but you can find it in Video 2 of the Autoresponder 101 series in the affiliate training videos section. Liz shares a great resource with you.

And, you can see how I come up with some of my own ad copy in my post - How to get the Best Ad Copy

  11. @ Jess

    Questions:

1.Tips on how to get people/companies to be
affiliates. Can they be anyone or must they be akin to your site? Is special paperwork suggested?

    2. Once you have them, how are they set-up to link to your website?

These question as well are about affiliate program management. That would be a whole other topic all in itself.

I will really quick though answer your first question which is two parts because they are really easy answers.

Yes, your affiliates can be just anyone. Like just anyone such as yourself and everyone else here can be an affiliate for Liz.

It depend on exactly what you mean by special paperwork but, if you mean such as for your affiliates to join … you’re going to want to at least have an affiliate contract.

For your second question, like I said, this would have to do with affiliate program management - kind of like what my job here is for Liz and I could write you an entire book on this subject.

If you have any other questions about being an affiliate instead of having affiliates of your own, I’d be happy to answer.

By the way, I also wanted to make special note here about your previous comment. I’m in the process of reviewing all of Liz’s training videos right now but, you can find more information on how to install a blog in video 8 in the Getting Started section on the affiliate video training page.

I’d like to get a nice article written up about blogging. Although, I might have to go farther and make more of a report. Anyway, I’m kind of thinking outloud here. I haven’t fully reviewed the blog video yet so I’m not sure what is all in there. I’ll see what’s in the video and see what I can get written up to help you all w/ blogs.

IF anyone needs help with a blog right this very moment, you’re more than welcome to slip on over to my message boards.

(This is a work at home mom message board - although men are more than welcome, we have a couple male members - but this is NOT in any way related to any of Liz’s “stuff”.)

We discuss blogging there often. You can see MY blogging section here.

Otherwise, for blog installation help, make sure you check out Liz’s video … and … anything else that can wait, I’ll try to get something put together as soon as possible.

I hope that was all a lot clearer than mud!! *lol*
